Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

  • A unique opportunity to support brilliant young minds

To support these exceptional students in their development, we work with our donors to fund initiatives like the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship (QEII GSST).

These programs encourage excellence by providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students. Under these programs, a $5,000 contribution to support master’s and doctoral students will leverage an additional $10,000 in provincial government funds, tripling the value of the award to $15,000.

Your support can empower Ontario Tech to recruit graduate students who are positive contributors in classroom and research settings, and who will move on to grow and enrich their fields.

We must continue to expand and fortify a graduate/ postdoctoral enterprise in two ways:

    • Attract the brightest minds endowed with masterful talents.
    • Conduct research that advances economies and the well-being of society.

“The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies develops a rich environment to enable our graduate students to get ahead. Your support will allow us to recognize our highly-talented students and further encourage their research and academic pursuits.”

    Langis Roy PhD, PEng.
    Dean of Graduate Studies
