Here in Ridgeback country, we believe athletics and recreation activities contribute to a wholesome university experience as well as student well-being, retention, academic performance and overall satisfaction.

Our focus is not merely on varsity sport, we provide every student the opportunity to get active. We believe that students gain valuable skills such as resilience, commitment and collaboration through these activities.

Our nimble nature and tech-centric high-performance model have seen the Ridgebacks make significant strides in Ontario University Athletics (OUA). Our first-class varsity programs, student-athlete support and reputation for excellence make us as a premier choice for aspiring varsity athletes.

We leverage our institutional strengths, community and industry partnerships and technology-forward approach to tailor training and support for our student-athletes. Our teams use the latest technological advances to track and analyze performance, ensuring a continuous learning and improvement cycle. We also work closely with the Faculty of Health Sciences to give student-athletes a competitive edge while offering students in the sport sciences hands-on learning and research opportunities.

While technology is a key driver to success, our achievements would not be possible without our exceptional coaches and staff. Together, we support a strong culture of belonging and Ridgeback pride. This is evident in the number of alumni who stay connected to the Ridgebacks family.

We are incredibly proud of all that has been accomplished in such a short time. The Ridgebacks punch well above their weight, with many of our teams ranking in the top 10 nationally.
