Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Inspire Always Women for STEM Scholarship Fund

Thank you for your generous support of the Inspire Always Women for STEM Scholarship fund in partnership with Marcia Agius.

Women bring amazing talent, ideas and approaches to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that drive creativity and economic competitiveness. Unfortunately, women continue to be underrepresented in these fields. I’m excited to partner with Ontario Tech University to address this issue through the Women for STEM program, an initiative to help increase women’s access to STEM education. The goal is to raise $2 million to provide 200 entrance scholarships and 600 in-course scholarships to women studying STEM.

Ontario Tech’s Women for STEM program is all about encouraging and empowering women to fulfil their potential in innovative fields, as well as inspiring and celebrating women as innovators, entrepreneurs and change agents.

I’m asking for your help in achieving this ambitious goal by supporting the Inspire Always Women for STEM Scholarship Fund. Join me in empowering the next generation of women leaders!

Our commitment is to ensure a sustainable, transparent, and efficient philanthropic program. To help achieve this, 5% of donations to expendable funds, with the exception of student financial support, are used to partially offset the costs of receipting, administering, tracking and distributing funds. Thank you for your support.
