I’m in the Faculty of Science but I’m a biologist and sometimes people don’t make the connection that biologists use math. And so pi is a really useful formula we use to calculate cell weights. I study a whole series of organisms of algae that are microscopic so it’s very difficult to weigh them individually so when we take measurements under a microscope of algae we actually use pi in our calculations to estimate how much they weigh.
