Hydro One Supports Women in Engineering

Since 2013, Hydro One has worked in partnership with Ontario Tech University, Toronto Metropolitan University, the University of Waterloo and Western University to increase the number of women studying engineering, with a focus on electrical and mechanical engineering programs.

The company’s financial support helps Ontario Tech’s Engineering Outreach team provide programming to girls in kindergarten to Grade 12 through the Inspire program, which promotes awareness of the critical roles of electrical and mechanical engineering in our society and sustainable futures.
Once female-identified students enter Ontario Tech’s engineering programs, Hydro One supports their academic needs by funding tutoring, peer support and other assistance as they accustom themselves to the rigours of the curriculum.

Support in upper years includes professional and peer mentoring to help students prepare to enter the workforce. Hydro One also offers co-op opportunities to female‑identifying Engineering students.
